How can you say that? After all I've done for your forum, this whole website, and the internet in general? I've suffered you know, to hold this family together while you were out partying and having a good old time! In fact where have you been for the past few days? I bet I know, you were drinking and doing drugs, that's what! It's always the same, take, take, take, and why, oh why, do I keep giving?!

Actually, I read about 50 pages of my homework and then just couldn't take it anymore, and picked up an anthology called Space Odyssey published in Great Britain in 1984. I re-read the Kurt Vonnegut JR story "Harrison Bergeron", then devoured the beautiful melancholly tale "The Engine at Heartspring's Centre" by Roger Zelazny, and then finally climaxed with the truly wonderous "Twilight" by John W. Campbell (the famous editor, who I had never read an actual story by) before passing out in a stupor.

Now reading Sun Diver by David Brin, his first novel and the start of the "Uplift" series, which deals with species educating each other for space travel (in particular humans educating dolphins and chimps, but also alien "Progenitors" educating humans, and other aliens uplifting each other.) Sun Diver features a spaceship which does just what it is named as and goes inside the sun.

Finished Sun Diver my first night in Hawaii, and moved on to the 2nd of Brin's "Uplift" novels Startide Rising an amazing tale with more dolphin characters than human ones. Perfect, because we took a raft trip to Lanai and saw some real dolphins up close in the wild! I finished that one on the trip to and moved on to The Uplift War which is yet another awesome book. I can't reccomend Brin enough. His characters are very real even when they aren't human, and his alien history is just amazing.

Now I'm starting Pattern Recognition which ought to be an interesting follow up as both are "present tense world" science fiction which deal with our obsessive use of technology.

Finished Brightness Reef and now on to the next book in the trilogy Infinities Shore which in a convoluted sort of way is actually kind of the sequel to Startide Rising. David Brin is one amazing author!

Finished Heaven's Reach, so I'm now done with the Uplift Trilogy (and indeed the whole series) by David Brin. I have a couple of story collections that I haven't read yet, so the Uplift stories in those will have to hold me over until he writes something new in this incredibly universe. HR ended with several bangs all because of the Big Bang. That's all I will reveal

Now I'm reading Operation Time Search by Andre Norton, which was written in 1967, the same year I was born. While not part of her "Time Traders" series, it is a similar yarn. Dated for sure, but fun partly because of that.
