Okay, this isn't a movie, but I just watched the dumbest television program ever produced in the history of television programming. And yet, I didn't turn the channel for 30 minutes. That's not to say that I was transfixed or anything, but maybe I was caught up in just how dumb it was, and by all the pandering to the lowest common denominator -- men.

It was "Videogame Vixens" on G4, the videogame tech channel. Oh my goodness.

It was a beauty pageant ... for videogame characters! The show had pretty high production too, with a DJ, a really annoying host, and some judges including the buxom and rather attractive Joy Giovanni, Rookie of the Year of the WWE. That's wrestling.



And they were voting on these videogame "babes"! OMFG!!! I think my brain atrophied and temporarily died and rattled inside my skull for that half-hour. Joy Giovanni -- who's not disgustingly buff in any way; actually quite cute -- was also wearing this miniskirt that was so short, she was practically sitting her bare ass on her seat.

I totally agree in both cases. G4 was a lot better when it was still G4-TechTV, and even better pre-merger when TechTV was its own separate channel. After Comcast bought out TechTV last year, it effectively proceeded to ruin just about every good show on the channel.

"X-Play" is still a pretty good videogame reviews show. The hosts were from the original TechTV version, but the writing and set have both suffered quite a bit.

And "Amelie"'s just superb. I should note that the burned out film look characteristic of the movie's cinematography became so famous, it's now known as the "Amelie" look around both cinema and photography circles.
