Sorry if there was already a topic about this that I missed, but I've really had my interest in film rejuvenated in the past few months and decided to make a topic.
All About Lily Chou-Chou
An atmospheric, beautiful but haunting coming of age drama set in Japan about a boy's worshipping of the singer lily chou-chou and how he uses it to escape. Honestly, I'm horrible with writing these kinds of little blurbs but I highly recommend yous looking into it.
The Return
...Another atmospheric, beautiful and haunting movie. A father comes home to his two sons after being away their whole lives and takes them on a survivalist trip through the Russian wilderness. The cinematography and cammera work reminded me a lot of Tarkovsky in some ways, but people seem to say the whole movie is a Tarkovsky homage and I don't really see it.
All the Real Girls
Guess what? Another atmospheric movie. This one clearly is a homage to Terrance Malick... Cammera gets distracted by beautiful scenery, pretentious dialogue and the like. I like it. You'll find better summaries by looking it up on the interweb.
I ordered Alphaville the other day, ljim. Lookin' forward to it.
Also I made this topic while hoffed up on neocitran so sorry if it's actually nonsense.
