There was a thread about this up and coming Phillip K. Dick story adapted to an animated feature by Slacker director Richard Linklater before the EZ-crash, but it went down with the ship. So, once again here's a link to the trailer.

Yeah, that's hot.
Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. Awesome. I hear an M83 track. That gives it +3 points, which makes up for the -2 for having Keanu.
"Two hemispheres of my brain... Are competing!?" But I dig. Looking forward to this. I should watch Waking Life again.

Well, if you must have Keanu, why not animate him, so you can put in expressions, eh?
Actually to his credit, he made $15 million a piece before royalties for the questionable Matrix sequels, and he did this for just $72,000, which is screen actor guild rates. Same with Wynona and the rest. |

Great lengthy article in this month's Wired on the film and why it's taken so long to come out. Makes me even more anxious for it.

The movie opens here in the States in a couple weeks! They're inundating Boing Boing with ads, and the website has gotten significantly snazzier in anticipation.

From the clips I've seen of it I'm not impressed with the style they used. Thanks for innovating, but I can't imagine watching that for 2 hours. Maybe if the reviews are all stellar.

The same style is used for the guy's previous film, "Waking Life," which I watched. It's actually not as distracting as you might think -- it "feels" very natural after the novelty wears off in a few minutes, and he incorporates some really interesting ideas into the animation.

Yeah, I loved the animation in Waking Life. The only problem was that it was even shorter on story than Slacker, though I know that was the point. Still, I think it will be the best of both worlds to have a PKD classic behind this particular hallucinatory journey.

I watched it tonight. While it provokes some sadness to be sure, it is most often an incredibly funny movie. You can definitely see the thread through all of Linkletter's better movies from Slacker to Dazed and Confused to Waking Life and now this culmination of many of those concepts and ideas. I haven't actually read the book yet, so I don't know if it was true to Dick's vision or not, but I think it likely was while clearly taking aspects of Linkletter's and our modern world since Dick's passing as well.
Keanu was actually quite convincingly cast in his role, though Woody steals the show. I heartily reccomend the film. |

I take it that nobody else has seen this movie yet? It's well worth it!
There's a pretty loaded My Space profile for the movie and main character Bob Arctor up now. |
