I agree basically with the points of the article, but they seem to be being made with an agenda to shut down all we have going up there. An accelerated program to replace it with something better is what we really need.

NASA, active in the news, for totally the wrong reason... $20 million wasted on flights to routine business trips, which is ironically exactly how much the latest space tourist paid the Russians for a trip to the ISS (and the Russians are now saying that NASA may have to start paying as well!)

While NASA is claiming commitment to the next generation spacecraft it will apparently be at the cost of many other key programs.

Particularly disconcerting is this paraphrase of NASA chief Michael Griffin:

For example, it seemed like putting the cart before the horse to continue life science studies about how people respond to being in space before the agency was sure it could put people back in space, he said.

Er, wouldn't that be the program that determines ways for people to survive exposure to naked solar radiation and how to handle bone density loss from zero gravity? How are you going to get to Mars without figuring that out Grif?
