In the end I'll vote for any Democrat who has a snowball's chance of deposing Bush of course.

There were rumors earlier in the week that the Dean camp was courting Clark as a possible running mate -- guess he gave his answer. I'm really excited to see how Clark's campaign develops over this next year. One of the mysteries of 2004 is precisely what his stance will be -- besides the fact that he's highly, highly educated (even more than your average politician) and also that he's a general who was against the war in Iraq, there's not too much known about him. He led the U.S. war in Kosovo, which is his claim to fame. That was a mighty bloody bombing campaign. All of the U.S. presidents from Washington on who've been generals first have been pretty poor presidents at least in popular historical opinion. I'd still vote for him, or Satan for that matter, over Bush. There's a reasonable chance he might well be campaigning to be vice president as it is. Often the number two front runner ends up with that position. I could easily see the Dems running him and Kerry with either in the lead spot.

Besides Dean, he's the only Democratic candidate who can say that he was consistently against the war from the start -- that's one of the reasons why Dean wanted him on the same ticket. In the end, I certainly can't claim that Clark will be consistently against future conflicts, but I do believe that if he does wage war, he will wage war "intelligently," unlike some certain individuals in office right now. People seem pretty much split down the middle, just like that Time cover of "Love Him/Hate Him" Bush. Even at family gatherings, it's a topic that seems to be so heated that it's perhaps best avoided. I don't think the Dems are nuts for speaking the truth, they just don't really do it often enough. The whole world gets portrayed as rather right leaning, and yet there are thousands, even arguably millions, who march in the streets against the current administration. Of course Clinton won by letting Bush Sr. do all the negative bashing and just smiling through it, so there is something to be said for that approach.
