Hey guys, how've you all been doing this summer? I just thought I'd give you an idea of what I've been up to lately... A few weeks ago, I started working at my new (and first) real job. Woohoo! It's one of those workstudy deals at school. I'm not even doing full time, but when I get home, all I feel like doing is zoning out in front of the TV. The summer is also a time for birthday parties, so I find myself going into the city even on my days off. [Sigh] Anyway, that's all I wanted to say.
Hope you're all doing well. Goodnight then. |

I'm still at that publishing company (and desperately wanting to leave). Haven't been writing lately. Or designing. Just been taking a lot of pictures, like a freak with a camera for an arm and a built-in film dispenser ... ultimately, not very fulfilling either.

I'm still working for the Consumer Protection Division of the Washington State Attorney General's Office, and will be for as long as I can. It's such a great job. Unfortunately 1/2 time, so I'm trying to get another one to make due. I just had a good interview with the Portland Symphony for a box office position. Seems hopeful. We're going to Hawaii in a sort of pre-honeymoon in three weeks, and then getting married in September. Most of my other projects are consequently in extreme hiatus.

I'm still doing my work-study job even though I've graduated. I have just a few more weeks until they have to get rid of me. I've now had this job at NYU longer than I attended NYU. No office work this upcoming week though because I'm going out of town for a small acting job up in Cape Cod, Mass. In a few weeks I will be an unemployed actor and I won't know what to do with myself. I guess that's when things will "get real".

Wow, I didn't except to see so many comments. I've missed that.
I haven't felt like doing much lately either, Nicholas. Nothing to read at the moment, no desire to try any Photoshop tutorials, heh. My only "vacation" so far was going to Long Island for 4th of July weekend, sitting on a friend's deck and eating a lot. I'm hoping my family can get away sometime soon... even if overnight. Anyone else going away, or went somewhere already? |

Good timing, that's usually the one week of summer there.

Alia: See, that's the thing -- I haven't started looking yet. My life's this big long state of perpetual malaise now.
Not sure about a vacation ... I might want one. I'm really tempted to splurge some of my savings on a trip to Tibet with some clothes and a camera. But hey, it's good to dream, right? In the room the women come and go

100 degrees in Portland today. Likely to do the same tomorow. Can't think straight, definitely not sleep. Going to get ice cream now.

Re: Update on life | ||

Nicholas, that would be awesome. The only problem is... would you want to come back?
*Note: I know that emoticon didn't correspond at all, I just saw it and wanted to use it. The weather's been really nasty here in the city the past couple of days. Makes you want to walk outside and take a deep breath of some moisture. I have a question for those of you over 19. But if you're under, you can answer too... somehow. Anyway, when you were 19, what did you do for fun? |

Re: Update on life | ||

Probably not for a while ... hmm ...
Let's see, 19, 19 ... Mostly restaurants and movies, actually, which aren't exactly cost-effective means for fun. I've never been much of a club person unfortunately (i.e. I don't think I can dance), which closes off a very good option with high fun-potential. But I will say that the few times I've been to a club have been sort of cool. That is, if you like getting groped and all. In the room the women come and go

Re: Update on life | ||

Yeah... I've been declining every invitation to go clubbing with my friends. It's reached the point where they don't even ask anymore. And that doesn't really bother me. Most of the time, they've come back with stories of touchy, smelly people who they couldn't get away from (and my other friends weren't even aware enough to come to their aid). So, I never felt I was missing out on much.
Maybe one day, I'll go just to go. But yeah, I can't dance either. Though I suppose a little of this |

Having made my living for 6 years off of the nightclub world, I have to say, you aren't missing much. Oh, I had some fun, and I'm glad I did it I guess, but now I just have to work twice as hard to catch up on real life, and I was better than most since I was getting paid for it rather than paying for it. In the end, you're mostly looking for someone else who's looking for a way out, which thankfully I found.

Quote: That's a very good point, ljim. You go looking for someone who isn't really into the idea and maybe just came to see how it is. And we might not all be as lucky as you. Oh well, I don't need to find more people like me anyway. It's all good. Hope you have an awesome time in Hawaii! Grr. |

I'm dying to go out dancing. I can't walk to my bedroom lately without throwing in some silly dance steps.
When I was about 19 I went to a few of the big clubs in NYC, but they were mad expensive, sweaty, and too intense for me. However, in my junior year of college I went to a small club a few times that was quite nice, chill. Drinking may not help the rhythm but it does get you moving. "A great power sleeps within you. Re: Update on life | ||

Leaving tomorow for a short but blessed week. We bought an underwater disposable camera. What sucks is that I'm not set up very well to upload any pictures I take, maybe I can e-mail you the best few or something. I've got a scanner at least, and SL's brother has a digital camera for some of them too.
I don't think I'll be around here for a week though, as I doubt the house we're staying in has a computer or net access since the owners only go there for a couple months a year or something. It'll be an interesting break from my online habit which has replaced all my former vices... |
