I've been having the worst insomnia I've ever had in my entire life these past three weeks -- bedtime at 6 AM is frequent, with maybe 4 hours total by breakfast if I'm lucky. Tonight, I spent a good hour reading the news before lying in bed for two whole @#%$ hours.

I'm sorry to hear... I know what it's like to sit up in bed, just waiting to get through that period of the night when no person should be up...
What do you do during the day? Having no classes these days, I find it hard to fall asleep at my normal time too. But if I get up reasonably early one day, hop on the lovely subway into the city and do lots of tiring things like shopping, by the time I'm home, I'm ready for some sleep. A little wine always seems to help too. |

Insomnia on the Western front too. Brought on by too much sleep in the daytime by being trapped inside forever.

It's officially become intolerable; I just popped half an Ambien. Do you guys remember that link I posted many months ago about the British sleep study that played around with the notion of the "48-hour Day" (sleep a full 8 - 10 hours one night, don't sleep the next, etc.)? Has anyone tried it yet? In the room the women come and go

Holy crap, I am so tripping right now. Everything's waving around and bending at odd edges that shouldn't be. While navigating this gooey mess, it took me nearly 5 minutes to find and click on the link to this forum. Holy crap. Drugs are no good. Fun! Fun!!! In the room the women come and go

Did it work? Maybe you should've taken the whole thing for the full effect.

This is terrible. I laid in bed for at least an hour before becoming exasperated enough to change to the guestroom downstairs -- it's well-known that a change of setting can be enough for some insomniacs, which is why people who don't sleep well at home tend to sleep quite well in hotels -- but it didn't work! I must've tossed for at least another three hours, and I was assaulted by Corgi once! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! In the room the women come and go

I'm sorry, Nicholas. That really really sucks. But it's good your not regularly taking those drugs.
On a somewhat happier note, what exactly do you mean, he assaulted you? Don't you lock him up at night? |

Re: Sleep: A Long Lost Skill | ||

Yeah, we do, but the guestroom is actually connected to Corgi's living area, so when my family let him out in the morning for his morning whiz, the first thing he did was bolt into the room I was sleeping in. He leapt onto the bed, which was kind of funny because he must've hit it quite hard with the bounce that ensued.
What followed was massive ear and foot assaultage. In the room the women come and go

Aw, that's cute.
Hey, I just noticed there are no doggie emoticons. Two cat ones but... nope... no doggies. |

Yeah, I haven't found any good ones yet.
On a completely unrelated note, have you noticed that the Tapioca Express in Flushing is now closed? Is that for Chinese New Year or has my worst nightmare come true? In the room the women come and go

You know, I've never been there. Amazing. It's a bubble tea cafe, right? On a corner, orange awning?
There's always Bubble Cafe or Ten Ren. I like both, depending on my mood. Also Sago Cafe... but I think that place is a bit overpriced. Bubble tea, heh. It deserves its own thread. |

A new study, soon-to-be-published in Sleep, finds that less sleep may be more.

Yet another study discussing the dangers of too much sleep.
