Also probably music from In Gowan Ring (who'll be playing live in the studio in two weeks), Laibach, Iannis Xenakis, Green Milk from the Planet Orange, Nick Castro, and who knows what else!

This week features a suprisingly airable track by the
legendary performance artist Lisa "Suckdog" Carver who
will be in town to promote her new book at Dunes, 1905
NE MLK, 8 pm, free, 21+.

In addition I'll be playing a track each from
Seattle's Degenerate Art Ensemble, and post-modern
throat singer Soriah (so post-modern, he's sat in with
GWAR!), both of whom will be performing an All Ages
show that same night at the Backspace Annex, 115 NW
5th Ave for The Language of the East, a performance as
part of the Enteractive Language Festival.

This week's What's This Called? will also feature
eminations of noise and beauty from the likes of Grand
Theft Poultry, Earthmonkey, Blowhole, and Jandek!

A:FREQUENCY is the brain-child of performance artist Aaron Cayko (pronounced "psycho" of course) who provides a deliberately uneasy mix of surprisingly poetic vocals and implied and actual sounds from objects that might not scream "audio" in lesser hands.

Behind him is a rock solid post-punk rhythm section made up of veterans of countless Bellingham and Seattle ensembles, Joe on drums and Beau on rhythm guitar and keys.

Providing a counterpoint is Betsy, who like Aaron also plays with objects, but while his are free and all over the room, hers are trapped on an ironing board with a pick-up and DI, animated just enough to throb in their captivity.

The mix of edgy experimentalism and rock foundation is at times reminiscent of the repetative primitism of The Fall, Gang of Four, or @#%$ Galore, but just as likely to devolve into sonic seascapes and fields of shattered white noise. A:FREQUENCY promise to be elevating, and above all, interesting.
