Aerick Macintosh AKA Agent Duckhugger is the host of the KAOS Olympia radio program the Super Secret Lodge Show, founding member of the Mason County backwoods audio freedom fighter collective known as Wood Paneling, sometime member of the Dead Air Fresheners, solo musical artist under the moniker Early Morning Initials, head honcho at the ultra-independant recording label Plastic Duck, chief administrator of the Olympia Strange Music e-mail list, currator of the "difficult middle years" of the Olympia Experimental Music Festival, television producer of the TCTV classic program Ye' Olde Year 2000 Show, publisher of more zines than you can shake a snake at, and drawer of some damn fine dirty comics.

He'll be providing some Wood Paneling, Early Morning Initials, and Plastic Duck recordings (hopefully a little Charlie McCalister?) for your listening enjoyment.

Domenica Clark is a rising star of the Olympia WA strange music underground, and bi-weekly hostess of the long running Ooo program on KAOS. A look at one of her playlists demonstrates artists as diverse as Comet Gain, Add N to X, Jim O'Rourke, Mouse On Mars, and Animal Collective. It's her birthday weekend, so she can play whatever she feels like on this show.

This week, in addition to the regularly scheduled noon to 1 PM hour of experimental music, high weirdness, and beautiful noise, I'll also be subbing the following program Gyrate Sucka, which is typically
Drum & Bass music. Due to my limited resources and attention span in the Drum & Bass department, I have gotten permission from the regular hostess Miss B-haven to unleash some other electronic sub-genres so long as I steer clear of "wimpy house music". No problem, that.

With this in mind, over the course of the two hours, we'll melt from the likes of Jandek, Matthew Shipp, Eugene Chadbourne with the Sun City Girls, and Fennesz into a more concentrated, beat driven hour featuring the likes of Autechre, dDamage, Solenoid, Porter Ricks, Add N to X, and some awesome remixes of Can that even include Drum & Bass rhythms. The goal is to leave you so hyped up that you'll be relieved that the next show is a sports-talk program!

Between djing sets before and after the documentary Jandek on Corwood over at the 5th Avenue Theater, I'm still slipping in my usual radio set. This week, look for strange audio emanations from Carla Bozulich, the Hafler Trio, Current 93, He Can Jog, and plenty more, including of course Jandek!

Eric Ostrowski is undoubtedly best known for holding up the guitar end of the ferocious Bellingham/Seattle guitar/violin post-punk/noise/free jazz duo Noggin. In recent years Noggin has frequently appeared as a violin duo with Eric opting for the smaller bowed weapon with no less intensity than his crushing guitar work.

He has also done countless solo performances and recordings both under his own name and the King Frog moniker, again increasingly with the violin as his primary method of audio expression.

In addition he has been a member of recent line-ups of the legendary Dead Air Fresheners, and has been making waves in underground cinema with his film pieces which feature physically altered and damaged frames directly exposed to everything from chemicals and crayons to flowers and lunchmeat.

This performance on What's This Called? features Eric, his violin, and his 8 year old son Ian backing him up on cans.

For those actually in the Portland area, he will also be performing later that night at 8 PM at Valentine's, 232 SW Ankeny, showing films and playing a set of solo violin.

I don't have any live guests this week, which is actualy a very good thing as it gives me a chance to catch up on all the music I've been downloading directly from the artists of late. Say what you will
about the rampant lame graphics and post-teen culture on My Space, but the fact is among the 52 million users there are some mighty cool weirdos who actually seem to want you to grab their music for free and share it with your friends. I'll be doing a bit of
that sharing on a grander scale, as now neither artist nor dj nor listener need nessarily concern themselves with such dated ideas as recording labels. The dinosaurs at Sony and WEA can stomp around all they want, but the real indie mammals don't even need to steal their eggs anymore.

Featuring tracks from dwavehed (who rocks like the Melvins fronted by Gary Numan), Analog Suicide (noise mayhem from Istanbul), Bernard Bernard, Thorrific, Onyx (the Oly girl not the rap diva), Faulhaber vs. Fuderer (two PSU jazz students who know the harder side of their electronics as well), and more.

I do also have handy a couple old fashioned cds too from John Cage and Throbbing Gristle, just to pay tribute to that last millenium, but don't worry - I checked them out from the Portland Library, so no major record labels were paid. (And of course
everybody should still support the real indies like Strange Attractors Audio House and Beta-Lactam Ring who hate the RIAA as much as you do).

This weeks eclectic mix of cross genre experimentation takes a dip into decidedly jazz territory with material from Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, and Portland's own Post-punk jazz-samplecore quartet Obe'Skupla (pronounced "Obey Scoop Law" and comparing themselves to Charlie Parker being assaulted by the Butthole Surfers, they'll be playing live on WTC on 4/8!).

Additional sounds across the spectrum include Jandek, Orbit Service (featuring an outtake from their new album Eta Carinae on Portland's Beta-Lactam Ring Records and coinciding with their release party the same night in their hometown of Denver), and Oukiess Soundz from France.
