"What's Golden?" by Jurassic 5. From the best hip-hop album in awhile. You may have heard the song in that Sprite commercial with the guy with the golden bike.

I'm listening to one of Chuck's cds that I was with him when he bought (I know that sentence is incedibly grammatically bad, but oh well...) It's a European '60s Garage Rock Compilation (Essential Pebbles Volume Three.) It kicks ass! There's actually a European '60s band called the Melvins! And the Baby Granmothers are amazing, kind of like the Spacemen 3, but twenty years sooner and from Sweden!
Currently the track I'm hearing is" "I Was So Glad" by the Jets, who hailed from Holland. |

You know, the people at my workplace listen to Coldplay all the freaking time. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part 2) - Pink Floyd from the Wish You Were Here album.
It just started. I actually like Coldplay. I'm not too thrilled about The Strokes... but then again, I've only heard one song of theirs. "Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground" by White Stripes seems to be quite popular nowadays. I guess some older styles are coming back in. That's not necessarily bad either, but I don't know how much I like it. I like "Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground", but that's the only song I know by White Stripes. Also, I'm just not sure these newer bands can duplicate the decades of the past. Sigh... Coldplay rocks though. As does U2. Ozzy. Pink Floyd. (What do all those bands have in common? actually the White Stripes aren't really a "newer band", they are just newly popular. They seem to be enjoying (or perhaps hating) the same phenomena that Nirvana experienced in the 90s of being a long-standing indie band with a dedicated following, who somehow became major label superstars with new fans who don't know about their past, all without radically changing their sound. Not long ago (like 2 years max) they played Le Voyeur in Olympia, which hold maybe 30 people if you pack them like sardines (and this was one of the places they were most popular then!)
oh, and I'm not really listening to anything right now. Unless you count the t.v. Chuck has on in the background. |

Everyone seems to like Coldplay. Their latest album is the only one everyone in my apartment agrees on.
