RIAA sh!t |

Not much point on my commenting on this, which is not to say that others shouldn't, just that my comments would be rather predictably pissed off. Anyway we could use a place to archive these type of stories:

This just gets sillier and sillier.

The recording industry nets $2,000 from the family of a twelve year-old girl to save their poor starving billionaire artists.

I think this really says it best, from the "101 Dumbest Business Decisions Ever" (see the link in the Share Your Weirdest Websites thread in the Pub):
82 - How to win friends and influence record sales. "We won't win any popularity contests. We don't really care what people think."Recording Industry Association of America spokeswoman Amy Weiss, on the group's decision to file lawsuits against customers accused of Internet file sharing, including a 12-year-old New York girl and a 65-year-old Massachusetts grandmother. U.S. record sales remain stagnant after the RIAA launches its campaign in the courts, and an appeals court bans the RIAA's legal methods in December. |

You've probably already heard about all the fuss being made over DJ Danger Mouse's Grey Album, which mixes Jay-Z's Black Album with the Beatles' White Album. But maybe you didn't know that today is Grey Tuesday:
www.greytuesday.org/ Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams. - Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai, Yamamoto Tsunetomo |

Probably mostly too old. Yahoo unfortunately doesn't archive their news stories for very long at all. I've taken to providing links to better sources whenever possible.

So, I take it that turning Psychologie grey was just too much work? (no snideness intended there, it would probably have been rather difficult with your color scheme.)
It's been a pretty cool protest, I must say. I hope Capitol gets the message. |

By the way, the Grey Album sounds great. "Public Service Announcement" sounds great, though very different, on both albums.

Well if Capitol wants to prove their consistency, then they should track down whoever owns the rights to the audio of the western movie Indian attack sampled in "Tomorow Never Knows" and the football game sampled in "Revolution No. 9" and shower them with millions in royalties.

Here's a very enlightening interview with Ian MacKaye of Fugazi and Dischord Records with some extremely insightful ideas about file sharing and downloading music. I highly reccomend reading the whole thing, it's a bit long, but I'm always blown away by the man's intelligence and credibility.
