But I honestly believe that will change as people discover what a cool site this is! (I just hate it when the big guy cries!)

We're coming out of hiatus on June 27th in Olympia as part of the 10th Annual Olympia Experimental Music Festival. I'm currently composing a piece which uses frog voices and existential poetry culled from the subject headings of SPAM read by computer voices. Here's a sampling of the text:
exotica antigone ampex consular olav aspen horsehair renounce forgetting floodlight choppy frivolous promiscuity concern serviceable info bile polarograph faint mu cutout bookmobile horseplay connally erratum diagram expertise analytic bless alcoa combination haul nebulae absentee gibbet helmet daedalus |

Hotttttt.
Any way you could get a digital video of one of the shows up? I'd love to see it. Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams. - Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai, Yamamoto Tsunetomo |

I am tech challenged at this point in that regard. I'll have to copy our t.v. documentary for you on VHS and send it to you, that's probably the easiest way to share video for me currently.

Cool.
I'd like to see a video too. But, yeah, I don't have a VCR anyway. Or a TV. It's sad, really. Which one is you? |

Well for lack of inspiration as to a better way to get out there where people go, I broke down finally and set up a MySpace account for the band: www.myspace.com/deadairfresheners
I really don't get into the whole social networking site phenomena, but if they'll host our pictures and MP3s for free and people will come, then do it we must. If you do happen to have an account, please hit us up for friend status, as the more we get, the more people might find us who actually go for our type of thing. |

After much meditation, the Dead Air Fresheners are proud to present a brand new track for your audio perusal entitlted "Love Can Make a Summer Fly".
This piece is culled from a digital recording by Nicholas Taplin at the 11th Annual Olympia Experimental Music Festival in June of 2005. It was edited and remixed January 2006 by Ricardo Wang using Mac Audacity software. Please stop by the Dead Air Fresheners profile and have a listen. www.myspace.com/deadairfresheners Feel free to download this, or any other of our songs, and pass them around using any file-sharing service that has yet to be shut down by the Man. There is yet another piece added to the MySpace page above: "God Damn Bullfighter" is culled from a live set on KAOS in Olympia last spring, with remixing and editing by yours truly a couple weeks ago.

Sweetness. The monochrome adds a lot to the surreality.

Thursday, June 1st, 2006, The Dead Air Fresheners,
despite nearly half our membership living there these days, play our first show in Seattle in over 4 years! The masked mayhem unravels at the Fabulous Rainbow, 722 NE 45th ST, in the University District! www.therainbowlive.com/calendardesc.html For those who don't know, the Dead Air Fresheners have been mysteriously reappearing since 1997 or so, with unknown members from Portland, Olympia, and Seattle. We walk the line between post-punk noise rock and experimental/avant garde electronic music in a very edgy physical package. Taking influence from the likes of Sun Ra, Sonic Youth, John Cage, Throbbing Gristle, and the Sun City Girls, we aim to give you a little something you can't get at home. www.myspace.com/deadairfresheners www.flickr.com/photos/dea...s/1409930/ We're sharing the bill for the night with none other than Seattle's own guitar reconstructulist genius Bill Horist! If you've never watched Bill play electric guitar, it's not to be missed. He does things to his instrument with a variety of objects which might resemble torture in appearance yet manages to coax beautiful harmonic sounds of the opposite extreme. www.myspace.com/billhorist The show is at 10 PM, with a $5 cover, numerous cheap drink specials, and Free to College Students. |
